The Quest
for
John the Fisherman

Why the hell am I on this trip?  Where the hell am I going?  Very good questions.  I
know I am in search of something new, something away from the life I had built up for
myself in San Diego.  But what is it that I am seeking?  I don't know.  But the one
thing I know that would never cross my mind was to start a search for John the
Fisherman.  Why would I want to find John the Fisherman - I was not a great lover of
fish except maybe Salmon and I am not a very religious person except for my belief
in a God.

Recall my first encounter at the airport back when I was trying to fly to Miami for the
first time the weekend before Easter.  It started there - while waiting for my name to
be called for stand-by, I remember mentioning to the husband & wife I first talked to
before placing my wallet out for anyone to grab that I was looking for John the
Fisherman.  Then the next thing you know I'm being led through airport by 'my
guardian angel' and then through the course of my next week wandering about in
San Juan where I met apostle after apostle (I don't think I met all twelve of them but I
haven't counted).

Why I would be looking for John the Fisherman I haven't a clue - recall I was not well
connected to the religion of my birth - Christianity.  So looking for John the
Fisherman would not be at the top of my list of things to do in the middle of traveling
around the world.  But, onward I go, looking around San Juan for San Juan the
Fisherman...
